MATERIAL

Resin: light, free in form, colourful

Synthetic resin makes shapes possible that would become too heavy or too costly in metal. Light in weight, free in form, and available in virtually any colour or finish - from stone-like matte to high gloss.

Macro shot of a finished resin surface

A resin sculpture is cast in synthetic resin: a liquid material that cures in a mould. After curing comes the finishing, which largely determines the appearance.

What resin says

Resin is the material of formal freedom. It allows hollow and organic shapes that would be unaffordable in metal, and the weight stays manageable - relevant for large formats, for placement on an upper floor, or for objects that need to be moved.

Here too we are honest about what it is: synthetic resin, not stone and not metal. What the finish can do, however, is a great deal: a stone-like texture, a flat colour in the brand colour, or a high gloss that catches the light.

How we make it

From the approved design we make a mould, into which the resin is cast. Large objects are cast in sections that are then joined and finished seamlessly.

After that, the handwork determines the result: sanding, filling, priming and spraying or coating. We choose colour and gloss level together; for a brand object we work according to your brand guidelines.

Casting synthetic resin into a mould

Where it fits

Indoors without restriction. Outdoors provided the object receives a UV-resistant coating - without that finish, resin discolours in the sun. Resin is particularly suited to colourful objects, to shapes with hollows, and to situations where weight plays a role.

Ageing and maintenance

Indoors, resin with a good finish stays as installed for years. Outdoors, UV is the decisive factor: without protection the resin yellows or discolours. Scratches and damage can usually be touched up in the finishing layer.

Lead time and price

Faster than the cast metals, slower than 3D print for simple shapes because a mould is needed. In price, the finishing level mainly determines the difference.
